2035 Vision for Healthy Ecosystems

Healthy Ecosystems icon

We are good stewards of our environment. Our urban forest, natural areas and watersheds are valued and cared for as essential environmental, economic, and cultural assets.  We effectively balance today’s community needs with the need to preserve clean air, water and land resources for future generations.  The built environment is designed to protect, enhance and be integrated with natural systems.

The Healthy Ecosystems action area addresses urban forests, wetlands, stormwater management, parks & natural areas, watersheds, fish & wildlife habitat and the Willamette River Greenway. It primarily updates the existing Comprehensive Plan Goal 5,1994 Goals and Policies(it will open in a new window).

What Have We Done So Far?

Each Action Area’s Goals and Polices go through a series of steps involving public involvement and comment, various review processes by different commissions and councils, and lastly, approval by the City Council. The graphic below shows where this action area is in the process.

Action Area Topics

The existing 1994 Comprehensive Plan identifies many goals related to Community Health and Public Safety. Because there are several topics in this area, we have linked to more details on each topic below. This Action Area is still being developed, so keep checking back as we update the documents
